Roots & Shoots Microgreen Farm
Grown with Intention, Not Just for Sale

Roots & Shoots Microgreen Farm is an indoor vertical farm in Coral Springs, Florida. We grow soil-based microgreens and edible flowers, harvested to order for chefs, restaurants, markets, and home kitchens across South Florida.
The farm started in our home in 2025 and grew into a dedicated indoor facility that we built out ourselves, by hand, from the ground up.
Light, airflow, humidity, co2, and watering are closely managed so each variety develops proper structure, flavor, and shelf life. Soil is at the heart of our system. We treat it as a living component that builds stronger plants, deeper flavor, and greens that last 2–4 weeks in a real kitchen. Used soil goes back into the cycle through composting with a local composting company, so nothing is wasted.
Food safety is built into every step. We operate in alignment with FDACS food safety standards, and every tray is fully traceable from seed lot and soil batch through harvest and delivery.

Our Story
It started in a kitchen.
Working in fine dining, Brianne Oliveira learned what great ingredients can do on a plate. She also saw how little anyone knew about where those ingredients came from. The greens arrived from far away, grown for speed rather than flavor, and they wilted before the week was out.
So she stepped out of the kitchen and into the soil.
At the Coral Springs Community Garden, and through years of growing across different climates, she learned how soil, weather, and environment shape the flavor, structure, and nutrition of what we eat. Her curiosity went beyond vegetables. She studied medicinal herbs, eco-systems, and the role biodiversity plays in the health of both people and the land. She came to see soil as something alive, and nature as a system to work with, not against.
In 2025, Roots & Shoots began in our home: a few racks, a lot of trays, and a belief that microgreens could be grown better. Within a year it had outgrown the house, and we built out our indoor farm ourselves, by hand. Today we grow soil-based microgreens and edible flowers, harvested to order for chefs, restaurants, and families across South Florida, with every tray tracked from seed to delivery.
But growing food was never the whole mission. Sharing what we know is just as important.
Brianne teaches hands-on gardening classes for all ages across Coral Springs, from kids planting their first seeds to seniors tending raised beds at the community center, and in schools from kindergarten through high school. Her classes cover soil health, composting, seed starting, and growing in South Florida's climate. They're about how to grow, and also why it matters.
Coral Springs is home, and we're committed to helping it grow greener. Brianne serves on the City of Coral Springs Environmental Sustainability Committee and works alongside the City and Parks & Recreation. She's an active member of the Coral Springs Community Garden and shows up at city meetings and community events like Earth Fest, and partners with local composting efforts to keep organic waste out of landfills and back in the soil. For us, being a local farm means more than selling locally. It means investing in the city we grow in.
Because food should never be a mystery, and everyone deserves to know how to grow it.
Our Mission

To grow with purpose, strengthen our local food system, and provide fresh, nutrient-dense, high-quality greens through responsible, transparent, and sustainable farming, while teaching our community how to grow, why it matters, and how to care for the land that feeds us.
Know Your Farmer.
Know Your Food.
Rooted in Our Community

Giving back is part of the purpose behind the farm, not something done on the side.
Teaching all ages. Brianne & her team teach hands-on gardening and indoor farming classes throughout Coral Springs. She runs senior gardening programs and kids' series at the Coral Springs Community Center and teaches in schools from kindergarten through high school. Every student goes home with something they planted themselves.
Fresh food for schools. We are working to connect schools with locally grown greens and garden education through farm-to-table programs.
A greener city. Brianne serves on the City of Coral Springs Environmental Sustainability Committee. She works with the City and Parks & Recreation, is active in the Coral Springs Community Garden, and takes part in events like Earth Fest.
